Hi Everyone,
My first post here and I apologize in advance if I'm breaking any rules. I have an opportunity to purchase a vintage Tutima pilot with Urofa 59 movement for a very good price, but since I have very little experience with vintage watches, I'd like to ask the experts for their opinion on the following watch.
The watch is currently non-functional as apparently the balance staff is broken.
The serial numbers differ, with the movement being stamped 208284 and the back stainless cover 207376, which would indicate that either the movement or the case cover have been replaced.
I understand that the movement serial number indicates that the watch was made during the WW2, but I'm concerned about having mismatched serial numbers.
1. Is this a common occurrence that the numbers don't match?
2. From looking at the photos, albeit not very clear, do you see anything else that is incorrect about the movement and the watch?
3. I'm assuming that this does NOT have shock protection as my understanding is that only a small subset of gold plated movements came with one?
3. How difficult or costly would be the balance staff replacement?
I would definitely get the watch fully serviced and cleaned, but trying to avoid any surprises. Any opinion would be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Zoran
