You have to leverage on the outer side of the bezel of course…

Hi there!
My watchmaker recently removed the rotating bezel from my Hanhart Doppeldrücker.
At the point where there is the reference notch on the bezel, which sometimes still has its red paint, there is a notch on the back that can be pryed up with a watchmaker's knife like the one used to open the case of some watches. Underneath is a circular clip that gives grip so it doesn't rotate freely. Under the bezel of my DD there was encrusted dirt that blocked the rotation.

Thanks for sharing Walter! It's wonderful to be able to link an object to its owner. So we have a Hanhart with the original red button?

I was also following the auction, just out of curiosity. What justifies such a high value in your opinion?

Zippo Black Crackle 4 Barrel 1943

Sorry 1942-1943 lighter. The 1942 lighters will have a 4 barrel hinge. In 1943 this was altered to a 3 barrel with the center barrel longer.
My Zippo has a 1943 insert.

When America entered the Second World War, many materials were restricted to military use. Both Brass and Chrome became scarce and Zippo had to use other materials. The obvious choice was Steel, but this presents two problems. Firstly, it is porous and secondly it is susceptible to rust. In order to overcome this it was decided to paint the lighter bodies with a coating of black paint. The finished body was then baked which causes the paint to "crackle" These lighters became known as Black Crackles. These lighters have either a flat or a rounded out bottom and are still stamped with the Zippo logo, although this is not visible unless the paint has worn off.

0C6D41A0-42D4-4C02-B69F-55D96F6FDC08.jpgHallo,
Does anyone know if the reset lever can be found or adapted from newer calibres? If I'm not mistaken does the Kal 41 come from a Landeron?

Thanks Walter for the tips! About the strap I will definitely do as you said, even if I'm a bit sorry to remove the original rivet but it's completely rusty. Do you think I can find equal rivets? Where can I look to find a replacement reset lever? My watchmaker found the piece missing from the lever inside the watch and it is probably possible to weld it to the lever. I'd rather find leverage though.
I'd really like to put it back in order.

Hallo,
This is my latest acquisition; A Hanhart DDmDL 121425 from Normandy. The watch seems completely original to me, but of course I ask you to confirm. I also believe the remaining piece of the strap is original. Today I took it to my watchmaker for a complete overhaul. He has verified that the balance shaft is broken but should have an original replacement. He also found the reset lever broken.
I guess the most suitable person is Frank Praezis. Is this the correct email from him? fr-zmt(at)web.de or fr_inf(at)gmx.de. Unfortunately I don't know anything else about the history of this watch, only that it comes from Normadia and that I believe it has been left unused for a long time. The crystal has some small cracks typical of plexy but fortunately in fair condition, it is domed and obviously I will leave it as it is. The pushers and crown are well preserved. The dial is very beautiful as are the hands with radioactive lume. The back of the dial bears the manufacturer's mark nxe 353s Weber Baral of Pforzheim.
I wanted to have the missing strap part rebuilt.
Although the leather is unstitched, it seems to me to be in good condition. What do you recommend? Remove the rusted rivet and do a band restoration? Thank you!
